Adventure Map - Guide to Seattle
This is a guide for Seattleites and non-Seattleites alike who perhaps don’t want to just visit “tourist” spots. These are organized by area (see a neighborhood map here) though some have multiple locations. By no means is this intended to be a comprehensive guide to the whole city – it’s just to get you started. I will keep updating this page as I find new treasures.
See the full list on here on Southern Nomad.

this made me laugh… because I could definitely see this happening to me if I lived in New York….

book: the paris wife
on tuesday I learned a tough lesson.. what was the lesson you may ask? that I should just stick to real books, you know the ones where you physically turn the pages and dog ear if for some reason you don’t have a pen in hand with which to underline.
here is how my revelation came about. on sunday evening, I decided since I have been spending so much time on the bus and walking these days, maybe I should download the audio version of a book. I have been craving to learn more about hemingway and thought the paris wife just might hit the spot. monday went well I made my way into chapter six or so, then on the way to work on tuesday is when everything fell apart. arriving to work I discovered my phone had frozen so I re-booted it only to find that all of my audio files (music +book) had vanished. what was I going to do? I had an evening bus ride (to & from BC) and now had nothing to read, not to mention the fact that I was at a really important point in the book… the story had captured me and though I knew inevitably it would go downhill (affairs + divorce tends to do that) I really wanted to get back to the story. well when you have a book emergency it can help to only work a couple of blocks away from b&n. I speed walked over there after work, picked up a new copy of the paris wife and was on my merry way. I definitely had learned my lesson.
ps- I picked this photo because it is what I picture when I think of Hemingway and Hadley in their teeny tiny apartment in Paris.

has anyone else noticed the crazy amount of brilliant food blogs there are out there these days? managed to stumble upon Erin Gleeson’s and I can’t wait to try out so many of the recipes.

foodies. not only does katie provide recipes on her blog, What Katie Ate, that foodies will gush over, but she also takes the most amazing photographs. honestly, I can imagine her photography ending up in a Kinfolk spread…

she is definitely tapping into another 2012 trend which is “Antique Eats”. perhaps it’s time for us to dust off our recipe books, and see what we can discover.
