I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don’t want to get to the end, or to tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes. I want to eat cold tangerines and sing out loud in the car with the windows open and wear pink shoes and stay up all night laughing and paint my walls the exact color of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on clean white sheets and throw parties and eat ripe tomatoes and read books so good they make me jump up and down, and I want everyday to make God belly laugh, glad that He gave life to someone who loves the gift. – Shauna Niequist

this is the year to make things happen…
what a delicious weekend! the food (black bottle, maltby cafe, cafe presse, and OddFellows), the friends (you know who you are!), the dreams and the adventures. not to mention the soundtrack…

I kept saying to myself and everyone within hearing, that this is the year. I really believe it! No more waiting. It is easy to look to other cities in order to find that dream artistic community I want, but if I don’t start living that life here, who is to say when I move to New York my life would be any different? Isn’t there a quote.. “We take who we are with us wherever we go”. What is holding us back? Let Go.
My thoughts were confirmed when this morning on the way to work I read a story of a 33 year old who was teaching English in Iraq. A couple of weeks ago he bent his head to say a prayer before class started and was shot to death by one of his students. We are not guaranteed tomorrow, and the story of Jeremiah’s life reminded me that I too want to live in such a way that I leave a legacy.

There’s an economic theory out there that if you take the incomes of your five closest friends and average them, the resulting number will be pretty close to your own income. I think the same thing is true of idea incomes. You’re only going to be as good as the stuff you surround yourself with.
