// Fashion: Troubadour//

Literally, just yesterday I was whining about how it is hard to find brands that really embody that current “Brooklyn Hipster/Creative” style for ladies. You know the men have: Ernest AlexanderThe Brooklyn Circus, etc. I feel that these days it’s quite easier for to nail the key ingredients for guys: roll up those pants boys, make sure to layer with texture and patterns, pull on those oxfords, and most importantly grow that beard.

Ladies! Just imagine how thrilled I was to stumble upon Troubadour by Lindsey Carter. And I bet many of you will not be surprised by the fact that the line comes out of Charleston, South Carolina… There is a lot hapenning over there these days..

Don’t you just love the photos from Troubadour’s Spring/Summer 2012 Lookbook? I am definitely inspired. I have been trying to figure out how to transition my neutrals from winter to summer and now I feel infused with some briliant ideas.

I want a life that sizzles and pops and makes me laugh out loud. And I don’t want to get to the end, or to tomorrow, even, and realize that my life is a collection of meetings and pop cans and errands and receipts and dirty dishes. I want to eat cold tangerines and sing out loud in the car with the windows open and wear pink shoes and stay up all night laughing and paint my walls the exact color of the sky right now. I want to sleep hard on clean white sheets and throw parties and eat ripe tomatoes and read books so good they make me jump up and down, and I want everyday to make God belly laugh, glad that He gave life to someone who loves the gift. – Shauna Niequist

It’s Monday! Are you ready to take on the week? I must admit that I am pretty excited about it! Over this past weekend I made some creative choices which I think have positioned me for something exciting, though I am not exactly sure what it is. They are small things, but that is where creativity starts right? Creativity can be just a seed – Muhammad Yunus.

I decided on Friday evening to put my Facebook account on temporary hold. I have several reasons for doing this but one is so I won’t have such an easy outlet for downloading/spewing out what I am thinking. I feel compelled to spend more time honing my thoughts and words.

“It is important to step outside of the box, so you can see what is waiting around the corner, and have the ability to paint a picture for all of those who can’t yet see.”

On Saturday morning, I spent a couple of hours at OddFellows mulling things over, and when I walked away I felt so peaceful. Those kinds of moments are vital, the ones where the world around you just seems to stop. While at OddFellows I read a story about the woman that Madeleine L Engle bequeathed the rights to adapt several of her books. At the time, the woman had been in seminary but immediately quit to attend film school. Are we prepared for such opportunities? Would we be willing to take the risk if an opportunity presented itself?

ps – another one of my small choices was to finally get my hair done the way I had been have been dreaming of.. just when I find the most amazing hair stylist, Pablo at Raven, I find out that he is moving to LA. But who am I to keep him from pursuing his dreams.. I told him that I am very excited because he is seriously talented.

// Ernest Alexander: Wyatt Rucksack //

There is just something about being allowed access into the world of a creative.. My favorite is when artists/brands/etc let you take a peek at their sketchbooks. Their pages are always such a treasure trove. Thanks Ernest Alexander :)

The Wyatt Rucksack is awesome! I really appreciate that it is made out of canvas, because I think that would wear well here in Seattle. The backpack looks to be the perfect bag for a pendler (commuter).

ernestalexander:

The Wyatt is the second addition to our rucksack family.  Lighter weight and more streamlined than the Hunter, it’s the perfect way to wear a backpack during the warmer months.

Made up of sturdy cotton sailing canvas with all leather strapping.  The bag features a contrast navy canvas bottom, a front flap zipper pocket, easy access side slip pockets, and solid brass hardware throughout.

imogene and willie…

not only do I love the brand name… their story is quite inspiring, you can read it or listen to it here and they also fit into the americana craftsmanship category.

for the love of hats..

I could have used one of these this AM. As I was walking to the ID bus tunnel the wind and rain were tossing me and my poor umbrella all over the place… I do believe a hat might have been a much better solution.

when I visited Kristen last we purchased these in our favorite colors :) Mine is red, which she informed me might be mistaken for a Kabbalah bracelet.. I said well at least it is a great conversation starter :)

something about this reminded me of fievel.. have you ever seen that movie? I must have seen it at a very impressionable age because every once in awhile it randomly pops into my head.
