love this! what are you working on these days?
Laura and Kate Mulleavy the sister’s behind Rodarte has struck again! How they manage to pull off such amazing collections is beyond me this 2012 fall collection not only reveals pieces for every day wear (ha! who am I kidding, it’s the kind of every day wear I dream of, but more for those rolling in the dough…) but also some lovely evening pieces. Overall what stands out to me most about the Rodarte 2012 fall collection is the balance of femininity and strength. The Rodarte collection reveals that it is possible to add a touch of artsy romance even to every day “office” outfits.

1) Yves Saint Laurent’s desk by Hedi Slimane
“The late designer’s desk, was a trestle table with two supports. A trestle table is one of the earliest forms of table design and was a common structure in ancient Rome. Yves’ desk was piled high with books, various well organised pen pots and a selection of cult objects. Behind the desk there was a framed portrait of Yves by the French Expressioninst Bernard Buffet and a cork board to which he pinned sketches, inspirations quotations, photos of friends, press clippings and his famous ‘Love’ posters which he sent every year to friends and associates. Underneath, was a bed and toys for his French bulldog, Moujik. His work station was situated in the far corner of his Avenue Marceau workshop, where the designer worked from 1974 up until his retirement in 2002. The room was rectangular with a light-coloured carpet and large mirrors at the far end; Yves’ assistants worked from a black lacquered table situated to the left of his desk. “ – by AnOther

“Evan B. Harris is a self-taught painter and illustrator hailing from Medford, Oregon. He finds and collects curious artifacts as inspiration - a practice his father taught him to do, and something he’s honored ever since.”
Several years ago I purchased the fascinating book The Elephant House which reveals so much about the life of Edward Gorey. This is a picture of his desk, it was taken the week he died by photographer Christopher Seufert.

I think she might just have my dream job… or one of my dream jobs. Well maybe not posing for all of those pictures… but the advertisers, fashion, blogging and events.
Sometimes I wish it could be as easy as Holly/Hilary Swank tried to make it in PS I Love You… How many of us have created those “dream job” boards, even if perhaps being a spy wasn’t our big dream :) Jane Aldridge inspires me, with how much she has accomplished through the medium of her blog. But the thing we have to remember is to not just dream, but to take actionable steps. If you look at Jane’s blog you will see that she has been posting since 2007. That’s a pretty dang long time- regardless of how young she is!
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle.” – Steve Jobs
“If what you’re doing matters then I hope you’ll take the time to tell a story - a story that resonates and a story that can come true.” - Seth Godin
What steps are you resolving to take in the direction of your dreams this year?

“God calls his people to two principle duties - prayer and work. Prayer draws us to God, work sends us into the world. Prayer centers and quiets us; work energizes us. Prayer restores us to God; work allows us to participate in God’s restoration of the world.”
